What is cage Paralysis?
Cage Paralysis is a disorder associated with muscle growth/forming up normally. Lack of exercise and sufficient movement is the no 1 cause of cage Paralysis. Long term cage paralysis normally affects the lower vertebrae discs & is extremely painful. Most cage paralysis monkeys become lethargic (Sluggish or lack of energy), walk stiff legged, may sit in a “hunched” position, walking slowly or never jump.
Please make sure your monkey gets enough exercise and is NOT cage bound 24/7 if the cage is small.
A diet deficiency in Vitamin D and E can also cause myopathies (Muscle problems). This specific type of disorder can usually be reversed if the diet is improved early enough.
Remember: Your monkey needs direct sunlight – Vitamin D
